In this project, I acted as team leader and was able to contribute my knowledge in project coordination and in the project-related topics, which is why I helped out in designing using Figma and programming. Specifically, we developed a prototype of a project discovery platform containing a strong search functionality, including a recommendation system, to improve communication between students. We used Angular because of its single-page and component functions (frontend), Java Spring Boot (backend), and MongoDB (database) and opted for an experimental approach with a coloured glass design using elements from the Google Material 2 framework to achieve an indestinctive look. With clearly defined goals and weekly meetings, we met the strict deadline.
Idea
The aim of the project was not only to improve communication between students with the same interests across departments and academic years, but also to serve as a project database with an overview of all past and current projects. Ideally, this would not only bring motivated students together but also help those who are committed but find it difficult to find a team or team members.
Cancellation
However, the project was eventually cancelled as bureaucratic hurdles made further development impossible. The use of the internal SSO was seen as a prerequisite for using the platform, which was implemented, but its use was prevented by the IT and data protection department.
